The National Institutes of Health's retired AIDS Czar got sick--and wrote an editorial about it for the New York Times. Sub-head: "What it's like to get the neglected disease"
This hideous creature never will be prosecuted, but just in case he is, he will now claim he has no memory of his many crimes due to recent illness. If he slipped on the ice this winter, cracked his skull open, and died, I would feel **morally obligated** to throw a PARTY! 🥳 🎉 🥳 🎉🥳
Excellent as always. Really the only writer on ME I ever read. Depressing as hell of course. Such a typical ME story - will we ever get justice? You'd think with the arrival of Long Covid, the charlatans would get their comeuppance, but it doesn't seem like it, does it?
As an ME patient of over a decade, I'm kind of low key obsessed with Straus. Fascinating and horrible. Hope to find out more about his whole deal in Osler's Web, which I recently ordered.
Aand he gets very defensive in his book-promoting interviews when asked about Covid or LC from his perspective. Complains that was such a small part of his uhh, distinguished career, that we are asking about. We are then classified as 'they', rather than as people still sick.
Thank you for bringing more of the history to light. I hope more people will read this to understand more about how we got here.

Brilliant article. Needs wide readership!
That's just what I would have said if my brain hadn't been crippled by ME for 40 years. Thank you.
